 • Series: God's Empowering Presence

Empowering Presence – Helper The Holy Spirit will give you extraordinary ability and the extraordinary presence of Jesus so that you can live at Jesus exalting life. Today we are going to be looking at the presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Jesus follower. Ephesians 2:6 …and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. Those who know Jesus absolutely are living in a different environment. Seated in heavenly places and set up for blessing. And then Jesus introduces us to one of the greatest thoughts and realities of Scripture. John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. 18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. First, Jesus does not want a bunch of his followers feeling like they are orphans. Secondly, the other big concept word about the Holy Spirit; he is another helper. We have a helper. Jesus is telling his disciples and is telling us that he is sending a helper. - A helper that will help you navigate when you don’t know what to do. - A helper that will be present with you when you feel alone. - A helper that will strengthen you when you are weak. - A helper who will walk with you and will talk with you. - A helper who will teach you. - A helper who will guide you. - A helper who will comfort you. - A helper who will encourage you. - A helper who will untangle the knots. - A helper who will sometimes stand in your way and say “stop” and sometimes he will say “go.” You have a helper in the Holy Spirit and you will not have to go it alone. Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Notice how Jesus calls him the Spirit of truth. John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth… This means that all of the communication and all of the help that the helper renders in your life will be reliable, trustworthy, dependable, he will never mislead you and he will lead you into something called truth. Now, I want to mention one specific area that the Holy Spirit, your helper, is going to accomplish in your life. In fact, this is the evidence of the help of the Holy Spirit. John 15:26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. The Holy Spirit first brings you to be amazed at the person of Jesus. The Holy Spirit will bring you to trust the work of Jesus on the cross. The Holy Spirit will bring you to personally know Jesus and experience him. John 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. The Holy Spirit will bring you to trust the words of Jesus. The Holy Spirit will bring you to trust the way and the wisdom of Jesus. The Holy Spirit will put the heart of Jesus in you.
